Larchmont United Neighborhood Association (LUNA) - Code of Conduct
Adopted by the Board of Directors August 11, 2025
The Larchmont United Neighborhood Association (LUNA) is a community-driven 501(c)(3) nonprofit dedicated to fostering connection, improving safety, and championing advocacy efforts in the Larchmont neighborhood of Los Angeles, CA. To ensure a respectful, inclusive, and collaborative environment, all members, volunteers, and program participants are expected to uphold the following standards:
Respect and Civility
Treat all neighbors, board members, and fellow participants with courtesy and professionalism. Disagree respectfully and refrain from personal attacks, harassment, or inflammatory language.Allow space for differing perspectives and collaborative discussion.Good Faith Participation
Engage in LUNA activities with a sincere commitment to the organization’s mission.
Participation in LUNA must be guided by honest intent and a constructive spirit.
Engaging in LUNA activities with the intent to gather information for other organizations, disrupt internal efforts, or redirect momentum away from LUNA’s goals is considered a breach of trust.Integrity and Transparency
Represent yourself truthfully in all LUNA-related activities. Avoid misrepresenting LUNA’s positions, actions, or affiliations. If serving in leadership, committee, or program roles, you are required to disclose any actual or perceived conflicts of interest.Confidentiality and Trust
Respect the privacy of other members and internal LUNA communications.Respect the boundaries of internal working groups. Information shared within LUNA programs, committees, and board activities is not to be repurposed, distributed, shared, or used to influence external organizations or initiatives without express board approval.Compliance with Bylaws and Policies
Follow the rules outlined in LUNA’s bylaws and any program-specific guidelines. To participate in official LUNA leadership or committee roles, you must be a LUNA member and maintain voting membership status, which includes being up to date on payment of membership dues.Mission Alignment
LUNA exists to serve the residents within our defined boundaries through active engagement, transparency, and local impact. Those who participate in LUNA programs must demonstrate a clear alignment with these goals. Participation that undermines these objectives, intentionally or through affiliation with organizations that do not share this mission, may result in removal or restriction at the board’s discretion.
Accountability
Violations of this Code of Conduct may result in:
A verbal or written warning
Removal from committees, programs, or leadership roles
Suspension or termination of membership, per Article 4, Section 8 of LUNA’s bylaws
Participation is a privilege, not a right. The Board of Directors may revoke participation privileges if conduct indicates a pattern of misalignment with LUNA’s purpose, values, or collective integrity, even in the absence of a formal rule violation.
The Board of Directors reserves the right to investigate and take appropriate action based on any conduct deemed detrimental to the Association. A fact-finding process may be used in cases of concern to ensure fairness and transparency.
By becoming a LUNA member, and or participating in LUNA programs, events, or committees, you agree to uphold this Code of Conduct and contribute to a constructive, inclusive, and mission-aligned community environment.
