CD13 Homelessness Team
The Unarmed Model of Crisis Response is now active in several LAPD divisions, including Olympic and Wilshire. This program directs specific calls to trained mental health professionals instead of police officers.
If you encounter someone in a mental health crisis, you may choose to call 911 and request the "Unarmed Model of Crisis Response."
This approach allows police to focus on higher-priority incidents while ensuring that individuals in distress receive the appropriate care they need.
